Fans of Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place might wonder what the mother of Selena Gomez's character thinks about Justin Bieber. Well, we're not sure what Theresa Russo thinks, but Maria Canals-Barrera, the actress who plays her, likes him just fine.
Canals-Barrera took a break on the Hollywood set of the series to talk to us for an upcoming story and said Bieber gal pal Gomez, who plays Alex Russo, wasn't on set today.
But, we had to ask, has Canals-Barrera seen Justin Bieber on set? "Yes, he's visited several times," she confirmed.
And what does she think of him? "I think he's a sweetheart," Canals-Barrera said. "He's so talented."
She also praised the teen pop star's movie, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which she describes as dispelling the notion that he was just an overnight YouTube sensation. The movie, she says, shows "his passion for music. His hard work as a kid."
Wizards fans can look out for Canals-Barrera this summer when she appears in the Tom Hanks-directed drama-comedy Larry Crowne, starring Hanks and Julia Roberts.
