Nick Jonas Is ‘Very Excited’ To Present An Award At The Grammys

Nick Jonas’ tour with the Administration is coming to an end and he will soon join his brothers at the Grammy Awards where the superstar trio will be on hand to present an award. And Nick, who was nominated with Joe and Kevin for a Grammy award last year, admitted that he can’t wait to hit up the show on Sunday.

“We’re gonna be presenting an award. I’m very excited about that and it’s just an honor to be there. It’s such a prestigious event and so many amazing musicians who are far more talented than I am [will be there], so just to be in their presence is fun,” he told MTV News. “I’m not sure yet actually [which award we'll be presenting].”

All everyone seems to be talking about is the awards race between Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, and Nick thinks that Taylor has a particular edge over Gaga and B. “I think Beyoncé and Taylor are both having big years and Lady Gaga, of course, so it’s a toss-up. I’m not completely sure. I think that it all depends on if the vote is split by kind of the rhythmic sound of Beyoncé and Gaga,” he explained. “Then that will leave a lot of room for Taylor. There’s a lot of good nominees. It’s hard to tell who’s gonna take home what.”

But Nick does know who he’d most like to collaborate with if given the opportunity. “Probably Beyoncé. Maybe some type of soulful ballad would be cool,” he said. “She’s fantastic — definitely a living legend at this point.”

With the ladies ruling the night, Nick just really hopes there are some awards left over for his current favorite band to take home. “Kings of Leon would be nice,” he said. “They’re great and their record’s fantastic. So hopefully they can win something.”

What award would you most like to see the Jonas Brothers hand out on at the Grammy Awards? Let us know in the comments below, or upload a video to Your.MTV.com!

Stick with MTV News all week for our coverage of the 2010 Grammy Awards. We’ll have reports on your favorite nominees, party photos, behind-the-scenes video and much more leading up to and during the big show Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

Kanye and Taylor hits the studio

Taylor Swift can’t seem to escape Kanye West. After being publicly humiliated by the outspoken rapper at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, she now has to collaborate with him on the upcoming remake of We Are The World, produced by Quincy Jones.

It’s the first time the two are coming face to face since the infamous incident in September when Kanye stormed the stage and interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech to tell the audience that Beyonce actually deserved the award for best female performance. Following the outburst, which drew even more negative press to his already tarnish public image, Kanye went on to apologize publicly and privately to the young country singer.

And now he has a chance to do it face to face. The two have been called on by music mogul Quincey to be a part of the 25th anniversary remake of the song which has been organized to aid the relief efforts in Haiti. Wyclef Jean, Miley Cyrus and other star singers are also set to lend their voices for the good cause

Jonas Brothers Supports Nick J's side project

It doesn't mean little brother has a side project, the older brothers doesn't care. Well, in fact, they do.

Jonas Brothers' saynow has been flooding Nick Jonas and the Administration track samples.

If the brothers supports Nick, would you?

Justin Bieber's secret: A Little Prayer

For the benefit of millions of screaming young fans, not to mention their ecstatic moms, let’s cut to the chase: What’s Justin Bieber really like?

The Stratford, Ont.-raised teen idol, with his meticulously forward-combed hair, is on the telephone from Atlanta. With the rasp of a typical 15-year-old, he is as polite as in his myriad TV appearances on everything from MuchMusic to The Ellen DeGeneres Show. There’s a constant rustle in the background; others in the room are distracting him. He apologizes and moves closer to the speakerphone.

Bieber is clearly still in the eager-to-please phase of his young career. If he has hit the wall of teen cynicism, it doesn’t show. There seems to be no brewing hubris, despite the fact that his debut album of tween-targeted pop, My World, recorded under the wing of his mentor and business partner, R&B singer Usher, has already gone platinum in the United States (a million copies sold) and Canada (100,000 copies) since its November release.

“Being famous was never in my mind,” he says. “Also, like, Stratford, Ontario … a little town of 30,000 in the middle of nowhere? It was something I didn’t think was possible. I owe everything to my fans and YouTube.”

He seems like merely an older version of the 12-year-old boy who belted out R&B tunes on homemade YouTube videos, which wound up attracting millions of viewers and ultimately got him his record deal. (To access those early videos, search YouTube under “Justin singing.” Searching with the words “Justin Bieber” will get you his more recent professional videos and TV spots.)

His single mom, Pattie Mallette, has said that she prayed for her son’s success. One YouTube clip shows Bieber and his mother in an early appearance on Full Circle, a weekly segment of the Christian TV program 100 Huntley Street.

Atlanta-based manager Scooter Braun had scouted Bieber after seeing his YouTube clips, and flew him down to meet Usher in 2008. Bieber auditioned for Usher, but also, as the teenager puts it, he simply hung out with the superstar to see how they gelled. “When I first met him, I had to sing for him, so that he knew what I was about,” Bieber says. “But we just talked. He got to know me a little bit. I got to know him. We watched a little bit of basketball. It was really low-key. It was fun.”

Justin Timberlake was also interested in Bieber and also met with him, but the young singer decided to sign with the man Billboard named last decade’s No. 1 Hot 100s Artist.

Bieber recalls this quickly, as if he has gone over it many times already. Our conversation falls in the middle of two hours of back-to-back phone interviews, which are in turn sandwiched between a doctor’s appointment and a rehearsal with Beiber’s full band and dancers. The next day he will fly off to Los Angeles to prepare for tomorrow’s Grammy Awards, where he’ll be a presenter.

That’s Bieber’s life now. When we talk, he has just returned from a publicity trip to Britain, where he was accompanied by his dad and a team of handlers. His parents are divorced, but Bieber is still close to his father, who lives in Winnipeg.

Since returning to Atlanta, the fledgling star has been sequestered in the studio, under orders (as one publicist put it) to work on My World Part II. That follow-up disc is due in late March, a mere five months after his debut album, following a time-honoured tactic from the dawn of pop music and teen acts: Get the merchandise out quickly.

But Bieber sees it in more contemporary terms. “A lot of people nowadays, with the Internet, they get really bored. … So putting two albums out, back to back, keeps them wanting more. …It’s really important to keep these kids satisfied, you know what I mean?”

It’s hard to put his success into perspective, he says. Imagine sudden fame at 15 – and, a month after cutting your first album, performing at a charity Christmas concert in Washington, with U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, looking on. “Things are definitely hard to describe,” he says. “But everything has just been fun. My family is really supportive. My mom and my dad are very supportive.”

His mother lives with him in a condominium community in Atlanta. She had been working as a website designer before her son’s career took off. She now calls herself “studio mom” on her Twitter page, but her son describes her differently. “She’s definitely not a studio mom. She definitely cares about my well-being, and me just being a good person more than a good artist,” he says.

“We have a lot of fun together on the road. We definitely get into arguments, ’cause I’m with my mom more than regular 15-year-old boys are. But we have a really close relationship.”

As for Usher, says Bieber, “he teaches me to stay humble through this whole process, because it can get shady, the business. You just gotta be humble. You’ve got to be grounded.” When pressed, he doesn’t go into detail about what kind of questionable characters he might have come across, insisting he has managed to stay away from them, whoever they are.

Bieber has a five-album contract. The third disc of songs likely won’t appear as quickly, he says, and may be an album of Christmas songs late in the year. And what of the inevitable lure of branching out beyond music – to, say, even something as low-key as Avril Lavigne’s ads for Canon cameras? “We’re working on different opportunities right now,” he says. “There’s going to be stuff like commercials and movie stuff coming out, but we’re just working out all the deals right now.”

That’s all Bieber will divulge. And given how quickly his career is moving, that could conceivably be all he and his handlers know with any certainty. “Have a blessed day,” he says as our conversation winds up. An atypical goodbye from a young performer marketed as just a regular, if highly gifted, kid.

Justin Bieber kisses Rihanna backstage at Grammys Rehersals

Rihanna is attending the 52nd annual Grammy Awards dateless this year, but there’s one guy we’re pretty sure wouldn’t mind walking her down the red carpet.

15-year-old crooner Justin Bieber planted a sweet kiss on 21-year-old Rihanna’s cheek backstage at Grammy rehearsals today (January 29) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

This wouldn’t be the first time Justin and Rihanna have “hooked up.” Justin, who admits to having a huge crush on his labelmate, got a big kiss from Rih on a taping on 106 & Park back in December.
When she wasn’t being wooed by J. Biebs, Rihanna was attending the Grammy gift lounge where she picked up some Marley Coffee.

Nick Jonas Admits Disney Nor Religion Has Constrained Him As An Artist In VMAN: Cover Story

Nick Jonas is growing up fast. He’s proved he can hold his own with his solo tour selling out crowds nation-wide, and in the latest issue of VMAN, on newsstands today, we learn what it takes to truly hold the rockstar status this Jonas Brother has reached. He may be the youngest of the Jonas clan, but Nick is wise beyond his years — and that is evident in both his new record, and in his perspective.

If the uber-sexy photos aren’t enough for you to believe this boy wonder is all man, then a deeper dive into this candid interview will surely sell you on it. Perhaps it all goes back to the music. Nick has been inspired by some of the most classic artists of all time. “My real musical discovery started when I was 10 with Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5, and acts that I connected with because they were young when they were doing it, like me,” Nick told the magazine. “Then I kind of came into my own a couple of years later, I found new artists that shaped my musical landscape. For instance, Kings of Leon played a big part in that.”

Music isn’t the only thing Nick is passionate about, however. He is admittedly very religious, and his faith is at the epicenter of who he is. “My faith plays a big part in who I am: a Christian guy playing pop-rock music. I’m in a pop-rock band, not a Christian band,” he says. In an industry saturated with over-sexed pop stars, Nick has held true to his beliefs and never tainted his “clean” image that has embodied him from day one.

Nick’s new record, Who I Am, reflects a more intense side of the pop star, with lyrics that are a far cry from what the Jonas brothers normally sing about. Nick says, “Yeah, there are songs that aren’t necessarily happy songs. They more make you think. That’s intriguing to me, just as a beautiful but sad movie might be.”

When asked about whether his religion, or Disney, or anything else constrained him to a clean image, Nick responds, “Constrained is the wrong word. The best way to describe it would be thoughtful, just thinking everything through. Okay, so, it’s not all uplifting on the record, but when I do a meet and greet with the fans, or any interaction with them, I’m smiling; I’m happy; I’m trying to make them happy. With the record, with the art, I do want to express myself fully; express the thoughts and stories and ideas that I have. And I think on this record I did the best job I could with that.”

It’s clear that Nick is evolving, and his music and attitude reflect that growth. The one thing that holds true is the dedication of his fans. His shows still sell out, and his albums climb the charts. No matter what he produces, it’s golden — and nobody can argue with that.

How To Go Solo – VMAN

For Nick Jonas, things are going well. He’s sold a bajillion Jo Bros records, spent his teen years fending off fans, and dated Miley Cyrus. Now all he wants is the world to take him seriously
Photography: Mario Testino – Styling: Clare Richardson – Text: Jacob Brown

He looks the part—the coif, the confident attitude, the aloof eyes, and most of all, these pictures prove it—but is Nick Jonas a rock star? The 17-year-old has, up till now, been known as the curly-haired, youngest sibling in the Jonas Brothers. He wasn’t the lead singer; that duty fell to the more flamboyant middle brother, Joe. But he was the driving force, the songwriter, the image-maker, the brains.

Conventional wisdom has long held that Disney pulls the Jonas strings, but more often than not, it’s Nick behind the scenes calling the shots. His adult entourage laughs about calling him “the president,” but the deference they show him as he strides into the Soho Grand lobby for this interview makes clear that the nickname is no joke. Now Nick is ready to push things further. With his new band, Nick Jonas and the Administration, and its first album, Who I Am, he plans to show the world that he’s grown up.

Nick Jonas’s family hails from New Jersey, by way of Texas. His father, Kevin Jonas, Sr., a former evangelical preacher and lifelong musician, raised Nick and his brothers on a diet of Jesus and church music—much of which he wrote and sang himself. To this day the Jonas family is devout; Nick and his brothers famously wear purity rings signifying celibacy before marriage (eldest and recently married brother Kevin has presumably removed his). But Jonas, Sr. was always fascinated by the world of secular pop, and early on he exposed the family to the Billboard Top 40. Car rides were spent analyzing melodies, choruses, and hooks. “My real musical discovery started when I was 10 with Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5, and acts that I connected with because they were young when they were doing it, like me,” says Nick. “Then I kind of came into my own a couple of years later, I found new artists that shaped my musical landscape. For instance, Kings of Leon played a big part in that.”

It’s significant that, without prompting, Kings of Leon is the contemporary band that Nick references. In certain ways, it is a band that couldn’t be farther from his peculiar plane of existence. In other ways, it couldn’t be closer.

The whiskey-soaked members of the alt-country and blues inspired Kings of Leon are rock stars in the
subversive mold of the Rolling Stones. Unlike Nick, they notoriously drink, smoke, and screw. Like Nick, they
possess the rare—particularly in light of today’s abysmal recording industry—ability to sell albums. The band’s last release went platinum in the U.S., sextuple-platinum in the U.K., and octuple-platinum in Australia. As a Jonas Brother, Nick can claim similar sales stats (he’s actually sold double or triple that).

But a deeper similarity explains Nick’s affinity. Kings of Leon is three brothers and a cousin: Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and Matthew Fallowill. The brothers Fallowill were raised in an evangelical Christian home. Their father had been a preacher in their youth. Of course, no one has ever accused Kings of Leon of being a Christian band, but lead singer Caleb Fallowill has no problem connecting his music career with his religious upbringing. “Every kid at one point or another looks up to his dad. I knew for a long time that I wanted to do something big, and for a long time I thought it was gonna be to take over preaching from my dad,” he says. “You wanna feel like what you are doing is important. For that reason, when we go onstage, we pour our hearts out.”

And that’s exactly how Nick sees it. “My faith plays a big part in who I am: a Christian guy playing pop-rock music. I’m in a pop-rock band, not a Christian band,” he says. “I admire Kings of Leon. I think their records are amazing. Just from hanging out with them I can say they’re good guys. It’s cool to see that they get to do what they love. But I think they clearly have an appreciation for where they came from, and it has shaped who they are.”

Nick Jonas wants, and perhaps deserves, to be seen as a rocker cut from the same cloth as the Fallowills, but he struggles to explain why he is a Disney band and they are not, why he has never rebelled like they and so many of his heroes have. “Maybe it’s about preference,” he says. “I just prefer to make people happy with my music. I prefer to see a smile on someone’s face after I sing a song.”

That may be true, but the lyrics on Who I Am suggest something more is going on. In the song “Rose Garden,” he sings the words: “She was young but not naïve/always wise beyond her years/hoping that no one would see/ every time she dried her tears.” In “Vesper’s Goodbye,” he sings: “Like a bullet through the chest/lay me down to rest/It’s a lover’s final breaths/Now I die, kiss your tender lips goodbye.” None of these lines are making anyone smile; they hint at something that, if not subversive, is at least brooding.

When that’s pointed out to Nick, it’s almost as if he hadn’t before realized that his music was no longer as innocuous as it had been with the Jonas Brothers. He admits, “Yeah, there are songs that aren’t necessarily happy songs. They more make you think. That’s intriguing to me, just as a beautiful but sad movie might be.”

So then, is it really preference like he claims, or does his religion, or Disney, or anything else constrain him to a clean image? “Constrained is the wrong word,” he says carefully. “The best way to describe it would be thoughtful, just thinking everything through.

At the end of the day, the ones who really matter—Nick Jonas’s fans—don’t care about any of this. They will line up for tickets, scream their heads off at shows, and go buy an album afterward. It’s a near certainty. The critics will whine and moan about his success. But they will likely look back and see this album as Nick’s Justin Timberlake moment, the moment he transitioned out of his former boy-band plasticity into a newly independent identity. It may be tough medicine to swallow, but they’ll be forced to admit that, yes, Nick Jonas is a rock star.

Heartbroken Selena Gomez Turns to Taylor Swift

Disney starlet Selena Gomez may only be seventeen, but the young actress and singer reveals that everyone needs a way to deal with a bit of heartbreak. Her personal remedy? Writing music and the support of country-pop sensation Taylor Swift help to ease the pain.

“One of my favorite stories with Taylor Swift was when I was going through a very hard breakup. She came to my house at 10:30 at night and knocked on my door. I opened it, and she had two big bags of junk food, cookies, Snickers and soda,” Selena gushes about one of her best friends.

“She put it on the table, put her laptop on, we made a video, and she told me that now we could look forward to breakups, since we know the other one will get us junk food!” Selena reveals, while chatting On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

“She’s very sweet. I feel very lucky to have her in my life,” Selena recants of the chart-topping star.

In addition to the great girlfriend by her side, Selena admits that her newfound love of music was also helpful in getting through tough times.

“Naturally,” a single from her first hit CD Kiss and Tell, is “about people who have feelings that they can’t ignore naturally and it’s just really fun and it’s got a dance beat to it.” The song reveals some of Selena’s strongest emotions.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star told Ryan Seacrest Thursday morning on 102.7 KIIS FM that when you have undeniable feelings for someone, “You embrace it… You can’t fight the feelings.”

And although the singer, set to go on tour this year, wouldn’t admit if she was having those “feelings” — and dating Nick Jonas again or not — Selena did explain to Ryan that she thinks that Twilight’s Taylor (Taylor Lautner) is “amazing. He is so awesome… I love Lautner!”

Demi Lovato Grows Up

2009 really put Demi Lovato in the spotlight: her second album sold more than 100,000 copies in America (!) and she worked with big names like the Jonas Brothers and John Mayer. But comfort with success hasn't always come easily for Demi.

Demi revealed she used to do whatever other people told her, without really considering what she wanted. She explained, "In the first movie, [my character] didn't really know who she was. Which is funny because that's how I felt when I shot the first movie too." Demi felt nervous about showing her true personality by dying her hair dark black or wearing red lipstick. "In the second movie my hair was darker, my character was more confident, and so was I."

Now Demi takes that confidence and channels it into her music. She talked about her opportunity to work with John Mayer: "I wasn't really intimidated meeting him, I was intimidated working with him," she admitted. As they worked together longer, "I got less intimidated, and was giving more of my input and not really being afraid to say what I felt and if I didn't like the lyrics I'd be like, 'Listen John...Sorry these aren't working out for me,' " she said jokingly.

In 2010 Demi will enjoy the spotlight with the confidence she gained in 2009: "It doesn't matter the size of the audience whether it's thousands of people or hundreds as long as I'm playing music I'm having the best time ever."

Beyonce duels Taylor Swift at 52nd Grammy Awards

R&B superstar Beyonce will battle country star Taylor Swift at the 52nd Grammy Awards Sunday as the music world descends on Los Angeles for the industry's equivalent of the Oscars.

Beyonce heads a star-studded field of contenders with 10 nominations going into Sunday's extravaganza at the Staples Center, just ahead of the precocious 20-year-old Swift who has eight.

Beyonce has nominations in the coveted record of the year and album of the year categories, for her single "Halo" and her chart-topping double-album "I Am ... Sasha Fierce." The former "Destiny's Child" singer is also nominated in the song of the year category.

But Beyonce is likely to face fierce competition in the major categories from Swift, as well as wacky songstress Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas, who all have nominations in the best album, record and song categories.

Trailing Beyonce and Swift in overall nominations are the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Kanye West with six nods each.

Swift, 20, who enjoyed success last year at the American Music Awards and Country Music Awards, has rocketed to fame over the past two years.

Nielsen SoundScan reported earlier this month that Swift was the top-selling digital artist in music history with over 24.3 digital tracks to date.

Grammy chief Neil Portnow has praised Swift as a "phenomenon in entertainment." "She crosses so many genres and generations. She's really struck a chord with people because her music is so honest," Portnow said.

Sunday's show - which gets underway at 5pm (0100 GMT) - is the first Grammy Awards since Michael Jackson's death last year and is expected to feature an extended tribute to the late "King of Pop."

The tribute will include a 3-D film clip made before his death as well as performances from Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Smokey Robinson and Usher. Jackson will also be honored with a lifetime achievement award during the show.

However, Grammy show producer Ken Ehrlich has distanced himself from reports that Michael Jackson's children - Paris, Blanket and Prince Michael - would perform on Sunday at the Staples Center, the same venue where they bade a poignant farewell to their father at last July's memorial service.

"Don't know where that came from and I really don't have anything to say about it," Ehrlich told the Access Hollywood entertainment news show.

Meanwhile, in the record of the year race, Beyonce's "Halo" will go up against Black Eyed Peas's pop track "I Gotta Feeling", the Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" and Swift's "You Belong with Me."

The nominees for song of the year, awarded to the songwriters, are Lady Gaga's "Poker Face," Maxwell's "Pretty Wings," Beyonce's No.1 single "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)," Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" and Swift's "You Belong with Me.

The best rock album nominees, meanwhile, comprise AC/DC's "Black Ice," "Live From Madison Square Garden" by Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood, "21st Century Breakdown" by Green Day, "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King" by the Dave Matthews Band and "No Line on the Horizon" by U2.

The best new artist category features the Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson, MGMT, Silversun Pickups and The Ting Tings.

Taylor Swift Won't Be Joining Kanye West at "We Are the World" Recording Session

Legendary producer Quincy Jones is planning an all-star sequel to "We Are the World" to benefit Haitian earthquake relief efforts. Contrary to several reports on the Web, however, it's not going to involve a reunion of Taylor Swift and Kanye West. Everyone recalls West storming the stage to disrupt her acceptance speech at last year's MTV Video Music Awards. As awkward as that unplanned moment was, it only strengthened her position among fans and within the entertainment industry. The original version of "We Are the World," released in 1985, featured co-writers Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie singing in a cast that also included Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and many others. According to Entertainment Weekly, "We Are the World 25," apparently the same song, will be recorded in Los Angeles on Monday (Feb. 1), the day after the Grammy Awards show. EW says the artist lineup for Monday's recording session is still being finalized, but Access Hollywood reported that "a source has exclusively confirmed" that Swift and West will there. Not so, Swift's publicist tells CMT.com, adding, "It will be a wonderful event, but Taylor is flying out to Australia the same night as the Grammys, right after the show, to start her tour." Her first show there is Feb. 4 in Brisbane.

Nick Jonas' January blog

Happy New Year!

2010 has kicked off in an exciting way. Currently, I am on tour with my band The Administration. While I am enjoying every bit of this new journey, it was a bit strange the first couple nights to be onstage with a completely new band and without my two brothers. The Administration is made up of incredible musicians; they are also members of the New Power Generation, Prince’s band, which speaks for itself. We have been playing some really great venues, for amazing crowds and I couldn’t ask for more support from you. With that said, I am thrilled to let you know my CD will be dropping February 2nd! I hope you enjoy what I have created.

Many times I have talked about how important it is to have a great support team around you. My family has been so supportive since the day I was diagnosed. When my family can’t be there, having others around who understand is so important. People who know and understand what you are going thru will help you manage your diabetes each and every day. For example when I started my adventure with the Administration, the transition was easier for me due to the fact that I still had many of my core team on the road with me. These are people who understand my highs and lows and how best to deal with them. Therefore, over the next few months, I thought I would introduce you to some of them and share their stories with you on how diabetes changed their daily routines.

Of course in the next few months Bayer and I will have some fun announcements to share as well so be sure to stay tuned.

Taylor Swift: The Bestest Best Friend in the World

It's nice to know it's not all work and no play for Taylor Swift.

Just a few nights before having dinner with friends—including self-love expert singer John Mayer—in Nashville, Swift hit a housewarming party for one of her besties, singer Hillary Scott of the hit-making country music group Lady Antebellum.

"She was just as normal and as sweet as ever," Scott told me the other day at the Sundance Film Festival. "She bought me and my roommate monogrammed little teacups and saucers that were so cute."

Keep reading to find out what else Scott and her bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood had to say about Swift, performing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and spotting a certain hunky Hollywood star in the Park City snow...

"With all the stuff that Taylor has going on and the laundry list of things that she's required to do every day, she is very thoughtful and takes care of her people and takes care of her friends," Scott said before Lady Antebellum's performance at the Stanfield Gallery, presented by Brita and Nalgene's FilterForGood campaign. "She's also been such a huge blessing to [country music] and putting it on the map."
Haywood added, "She's opened doors for people like us. She's broken down a lot of barriers for country artists...like hosting Saturday Night Live."

Lady Antebellum's second album, Need You Now, was released today. They'll be performing at Sunday's Grammys, where they're up for two awards. On Friday, they'll be singing at the MusiCares benefit honoring Neil Young. And you can catch them on Ellen tomorrow. The last time they were on the funnylady's talk show, she presented them with one of their gold records. "I want a car this time," Kelley joked.

This was their first time at the Robert Redford film fest. "We can be driving down Main Street and see Ryan Reynolds standing on the side of the road," Scott said with a big smile. "I like that."

Jonas Brothers WILL return

Joe Jonas woke up early this morning to appear on KIISFM’s The Ryan Seacrest Show on Monday morning (January 25) in Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old musician shared with Ryan about the him and his brothers, Kevin and Nick, doing their separate things right now, “We’ve wanted to take some time off for a while now. We’ve been touring hard core for two and a half, three years, so it’s nice to have a little break where we all can take a break and do some different things.”

Joe added about his side projects, “I want to so some acting — find the right movie and all. I’ve also been in the studio writing a lot with my friends. Not sure where that’s going to lead, whether it’s another JB album or a side deal. I definitely think we [Jonas Brothers] will come back for another album because we love what we do and we love being in a band together.”

Selena Gomez : "A Positive Outlook in Life is Everything"

Selena Gomez was interviewed by M Magazine for the March 2010 edition. The article is titled “Selena Gomez: A Positive Outlook On Life Is Everything.”

In the article Selena discusses what it was like to work on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show and what her experience was like meeting the fans and the family in need.

Learn how Selena was inspired though her experience and how she inspired others in the article below:

“Tough times don’t last…tough people do.” Powerful words for sure, and ones Selena repeated over and over to us recently, as we sat in her New York City hotel room, chatting about the new path her life is taking.“That phrase describes me right now,” Selena confided to us. “I heard it from a fan I met on the set of Ramona and Beezus (Sel’s new movie out August 13). She had Leukemia and had just gotten out of the hospital. The fact that a nine-year-old say that – I was like, ‘Wow.’ It stuck with me.”

That brief moment in time was the start of an eye-opening journey for Selena – one that saw the star refocusing her energy on the positive and refusing to dwell on the negative. One way Selena is doing that is through charity work. Giving back nourishes Selena’s soul like nothing else. So when Sel was offered the opportunity to participate in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, she jumped at the chance. The episode was centered around the Scotts, a family who had lost their police officer dad in the line of duty. Selena surprised the three Scott daughters: Leyla, 17, Deidie, 13, and Alethea, 11, by giving them a personal tour of the Wizards’ set! “The first thing I thought when I met the girls was how incredibly strong they were,” Selena exclusively tells M. “They acted as if nothing had happened to them and saw their lives as blessed. They didn’t let it effect them.”

Miley sells her dog

Miley Cyrus was caught on camera yesterday selling her pet dog! I think the pictures of Miley below speak for themselves.

Miley Cyrus was out on the street yesterday carrying around her beloved dog “Smuckers”, when she happened upon a gay man. Miley offered to trade her dog Smuckers, some gently used anal beads, and a case of Jif peanut butter (the #1 choice of choosy moms) for his large negro companion. The deal went down rather quickly and Miley was accompanied by her new love slave and his large low hanging fruit to her Prius.

Demi Lovato 'ECSTATIC' over Kelly Clarkson meeting

Teen star DEMI LOVATO was so "ecstatic" when she met her idol KELLY CLARKSON, she asked to hug her three times.

The Disney singer/actress has been an avid fan of the Since U Been Gone hitmaker since she rose to fame on the first season of American Idol in 2002.

Lovato is still in awe of Clarkson for keeping her personal life out of the tabloids and concentrating on her music career.

And the Camp Rock star wants to follow Clarkson's lead by ensuring she learns from her experiences.

Speaking on British TV show Live From Studio Five, Lovato says, "I did meet Kelly Clarkson one time and I gave her three hugs, three. Once when I met her and then I was saying goodbye and I gave her another one... and then she was walking away and I was like, 'Can I have one more?' She's my idol, so getting to meet her was incredible. I've loved her since the first episode of American Idol, so when I got to meet her I was ecstatic.

"You know, I never looked up to Kelly Clarkson because of her being perfect. I looked up to her because no matter what she went through, she had class and I feel like she stayed talented. She never was arrested or anything like that and you didn't see her in the tabloids for dating a lot of people. She really kept low and had a really great career and I feel like, for me, I don't feel pressure as a role model. I just want to make sure that no matter what situation I'm in I come out of it a stronger person."

Selena Gomez Demi Lovato: Friendship on the Rocks

Are Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato still friends? In light of a recent statement made by the ‘Camp Rock’ actress the answer is, probably not.

Demi Lovato emerged from the BBC Radio1 building in London yesterday (January 24, 2010) to a crowd of excited fans. She was extremely gracious as she interacted with her young admirers, and even posed for a few pictures.

There was even a little Q&A time. When asked how Selena was, DL replied:
Ask Taylor (Swift?)

How about this revealing statement, which was made to J-14 magazine not too long ago.
Just because we were best friends doesn’t mean we’re always going to stay best friends.

Gomez elaborated on the situation even further, saying
I think [ending friendships] is natural and people have to go through it

BIEBER THREATENED WITH ARREST OVER TEEN FANS

Teen sensation JUSTIN BIEBER was threatened with arrest if he failed to send an internet message to fans urging them to go home after a signing in New York descended into chaos.

The 15 year old was forced to cancel an appearance at the Roosevelt Field shopping mall in Long Island in November (09) after thousands of screaming teens showed up to catch a glimpse of their pop idol.

Mall guards were unable to keep the fans under control and event organisers deemed it too unsafe to bring Bieber out, prompting the cancellation of the event.

Bieber took to his Twitter.com blog and told his devotees to leave. He also revealed a member of his team had been taken into custody by police.

And the singer has now admitted officials threatened to arrest him if he did not comply with their instructions.

He says, "They expected 1,000 fans, but 10,000 turned up. The stupid police officers ended up threatening to arrest me for coming. They told me to Tweet my fans telling them I wasn't coming, otherwise they would arrest me. It didn't make sense - how could you arrest someone for not Twittering?"

Haiti Telethon: What You Didn’t See on TV

Hollywood came together to support Haiti on Friday night – and reunited a few famous exes in the process.
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, who split five years ago, were both on the same soundstage at L.A.’s CBS Studios where he presented and she manned the phones at the Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, but they did not cross paths, according to a source.
Justin Timberlake, who sang a soulful rendition of “Hallelujah” with Tennman artist Matt Morris, bumped into his ex, Cameron Diaz, off camera. “They ran into each other after he performed and she was in the phone bank and then they talked,” the source says.
“The celebrities were so low-key. Everyone drove themselves, there were no handlers, no entourages,” adds the source. “Everyone was in a good mood. Most people showed up early and many celebrities, including Chevy Chase, Olivia Wilde and David Archuleta, stayed after the telethon was over so they could keep answering phone calls.
The A-list event was co-hosted by George Clooney and Wyclef Jean and presented by MTV Networks and broadcast on nearly a dozen channels.
Making Connections
“Celebs were catching up with each other and sitting down with staff and just chatting, talking about how sad the situation in Haiti was and how happy they were to help. The success of the night put a lot of people in a euphoric mood and a lot of people made plans to get together later,” the source adds.
• Before the show started, early arrivals Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts were deep in conversation when Drew Barrymore came over to join them before all three women took their seats at the phone bank.
• Penelope Cruz approached organizer Clooney, who a source says was “very hands-on” during the telecast, and told him, “You’re a genius,” after he brought so many people together for the event, which raised money by encouraging viewers to call 1-877-99-Haiti to pledge money for the cause.
• Backstage: Newlywed Kevin Jonas ran into Zac Efron’s girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and expressed his hope that “the four of us” would hang out soon.
• In the greenroom, Chris Rock noshed on a cupcake from Crumbs bakery while talking to Ben Stiller. Morgan Freeman and Halle Berry chatted about her daughter Nahla. And Leonardo DiCaprio drank white wine while Archuleta rejoiced when he found papaya on the fruit platter.
• Christian Slater rocked out while watching Madonna’s performance of “Like a Prayer” via satellite from New York; Pussycat Doll frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger and Rose McGowan were inseparable most of the night; Rande Gerber dutifully waited for wife Cindy Crawford in the green room while she worked the phones.
“It was a great night,” says the source. “It was surreal to see so many celebrities together in one place.”
After-Party
For many of the stars, the fun continued at L.A.’s Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel where Clooney, DiCaprio, Witherspoon, Daniel Craig, Kid Rock, Aniston and Gerard Butler stopped by for some dinner and cocktails after the telethon.
“Everyone seemed really happy, almost giddy,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE. “They were obviously celebrating the huge amount of money that they raised, and cutting loose at the same time.”

Miley Cyrus: "I don't like Mushy Guys"

Miley Cyrus has revealed that her boyfriends must be "spontaneous" and appreciate outdoor activities.

The Hannah Montana star explained that she does not usually appreciate romantic gestures because she prefers fun and adventure.

Speaking to WENN, Cyrus admitted: "I like spontaneous men, guys who go with the flow, appreciate the outdoors.

"I'm not the kind of person who gets all warm and fuzzy over a candlelit dinner - that's a little too mushy for my taste. I like the beach. I like to get out and do things."

Cyrus is currently dating Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. It was recently claimed that she had described her new partner as "the one".

Extra Guards Hired for Justin Bieber's Valentine's Day Gig

When Justin Bieber hits The Palladium in Hollywood on February 14, he will have one large security team supporting behind him. According to TMZ, the manager of the venue used for his Valentine's Day concert will increase security measures of the sold-out gig by hiring extra guards to ensure that the event goes on as safe as possible.

The move apparently was taken by the organizers after a meet-and-greet event at Roosevelt Field Mall in New York in November 2009 turned into chaos. At the time, one girl had to be rushed to the hospital following aggressive pushing and shoving after employees at one of the stores falsely screamed out that Justin was in their store.

The incident forced the 15-year-old to post a tweet begging his fans to go home. "The event at roosevelt mall is canceled," his tweet read. "please go home. the police have already arrested one person from my camp. I dont want anyone hurt." He later posted another tweet, "Im sorry to everyone who was in Long Island at the Mall 2day. I was just trying to come meet fans and never meant to disappoint anyone."

On January 18, Justin Bieber has treated fans with his new single "Baby" which was released on iTunes. Days before the song came out, he offered a sneak peek with by posting a video of him singing the unplugged version of the tune accompanied by guitar on YouTube. His accompanying message read, "Spread the word and let's help make it my first ever #1 on ITUNES!!"

Rose Garden, possible Selena Gomez

Ever since Nick Jonas and The Administration's "Rose Garden" debuted in early December 2009, speculation that the song describes the life of Nick Jonas' rumored ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez has been swirling. Although Nick doesn't specifically mention Gomez's name, several parts of the lyric does resemble her personal life.

When asked about the song however, the one-third of the Jonas Brothers didn't want to talk in detail about the song, except that it is one of his favorite tracks and is inspired by a true story. "'Rose Garden' is one of my favorite tracks. It is inspired by a true story. The rose garden was this young girl's safe place. I thought I was cool that she ran to this place to feel safe," he told M magazine.

Parts of "Rose Garden" lyric reads, "She was brought into this world, out of a beautiful mistake, when her mom was just a girl and her daddy didn't stay, she was working at age 9, at the flower shop in town." Like the girl in the song, Selena's mother indeed had the actress when she was young and split from Selena's father soon after.

In another news, Nick Jonas has recently commented on rumors of him and Selena Gomez reuniting that have been floating around ever since he was spotted spending time with the songstress in Lake Michigan in Chicago. "It's not so much a surprise," Nick Jonas told MTV. He continued on, "The thing that's kind of funny to me is the fact that I'm still very young, and as far as a relationship, it's kind of young stuff, and people being interested in that is funny to me, but it's all good. It's flattering, and that's how you have to look at it."

Justin Bieber talks Usher Justin and Crazy Fans

Justin Bieber is currently one of the hottest young artists in the world. The 15 year old has impressed teenage girls the world over and label boss Usher with his soulful voice.

And on his recent trip to the UK MTV grabbed a chat....

MTV: So Justin what can we expect from the album My World?

My World is actually going to be a lot of fun, it was so much fun recording, I think it shows that I was having fun recording it and I think you guys will have fun listening to it. It’s got a kinda r ‘n’ b/pop feel.

Tell us how you got signed and a little about your relationship with Usher?

So, basically I was twelve years old and I was posting videos online just for my friends and family and other people started watching it and I started getting a lot of hits and views

Then a manager contacted me and ended up flying us down to Atlanta where I met Usher and was then flown out to LA and Memphis to meet with Justin Timberlake. We ended up signing with Usher at Island Def Jam.

He’s a great guy just as I met him I actually sang him my own song You Got It Bad. I was a little nervous but it was a lot of fun.

It must have been amazing at twelve, what did you think did you think your whole world was going to change or was it just a bit of a dream?

Well at the time I really didn’t know what was going on, I was kind of like ‘pinch me I’m dreaming!’ It was definitely a big change but I’m having a lot of fun.

Usher starred in the for video One Time…

He didn’t star in it I starred in it! He made a co-appearance, in my video. He wouldn’t star in my video, that wouldn’t make sense right?

What kind of advice has he given you?

Usher gave me a lot of advice and I think the best advice he’s given me is basically just to stay humble through this whole experience.

Now is it true there was a bidding war between Usher and Justin Timberlake?

Well I don’t really know about it all I know is that they were going back and forth. So, basically I think Justin and Usher both wanted to sign me it was kind of like a bidding war, it was kind of like they were in a ring and Usher knocked him out so…

Have you seen J.T. since you decided to go with Usher?

I haven’t seen Justin Timberlake since the whole deal went down but I think he’d have no hard feelings. He seems like a really nice guy, he seems cool.

What’s the craziest fan experience you’ve had?

I had one of here just a few days ago and we were driving and these little girls they were running in front of the vehicles. They nearly got hurt- we were driving and they were still running in front of the vehicle. So that was probably one of the craziest.

Tell us about the accident you had on stage where you were supporting Taylor Swift in the UK, you broke your foot didn’t you?

Yes! I actually broke my foot on stage performing with Taylor Swift I was opening up for her which was a lot of fun- although it definitely wasn’t fun when I broke my foot. I was running down stage and there was a little dip in the stage and I rolled my ankle and broke it and I finished the song but yeah, it was still a great night.

Would you like to work with Taylor in the future maybe have a duet with her or something?

I would love to work with Taylor in the future she’s a great writer, song writer, musician, singer so she’s an all round great person, so I think it would be great.

Nick Jonas speaks about Rose Garden

There’s been much discussion on which girl Nick Jonas & The Administration’s song “Rose Garden” is truly about — Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus?

Nick, 17, dished to M mag about the song, “‘Rose Garden’ is one of my favorite tracks. It is inspired by a true story. The rose garden was this young girl’s safe place. I thought I was cool that she ran to this place to feel safe.”

He also caught up with MTV to comment on the rumors floating around him and Selena since they were caught by TMZ in Chicago.

Nick shared, “[It's] not so much a surprise. The thing that’s kind of funny to me is the fact that I’m still very young, and as far as a relationship, it’s kind of young stuff, and people being interested in that is funny to me, but it’s all good. It’s flattering, and that’s how you have to look at it.”

WHO DO YOU THINK “Rose Garden” is truly about?

Joe Jonas visits Hillary Duff

Joe Jonas looks a little surprised to be greeted by paparazzi as he leaves pal Hilary Duff’s home on a rainy Wednesday afternoon (January 20) in Toluca Lake, Calif.

The 20-year-old singer has been enjoying the rainy weather. Joe tweeted this afternoon, “Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.” We’d have to agree with you there, Joe.

As reported yesterday, Joe and BFF Demi Lovato will harmonizing their vocals once again in a new Friends for Change tune called “Make A Wave.”
