New Jonas DVD

It’s Nick Jonas and the Administration pretty much 24/7 at the moment, so much so that it’s easy to forget that Nick plays in some other band called Jonas Brothers and acts with his siblings, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, on a hit Disney Channel series called JONAS. Well, just to make certain that no one forgets about JONAS, the good folks over at Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment are unleashing I Heart JONAS, a brand-new DVD with 155 minutes of JONAS goodness.

So, what’s on the DVD, which will arrive in stores on January 26? Well, for your $19.99 you get seven specially selected episodes of JONAS, the show that finds Nick, Kevin, and Joe playing a wildly popular pop band that isn’t quite Jonas Brothers, but pretty darn close. Frankie Jonas is in there, too, of course, and he tends to steal the show. Episodes include “Fashion Victim,” “Love Sick,” “Three Musketeers,” “Karaoke Surprise,” “Frantic Romance,” “Foretting Stella’s Birthday,” and “Double Date.” If you’re a kid and you’re reading this, ask your parents about The Monkees. The show, at times, very much resembles the old TV show starring that 1960’s pop band. And if you’re an adult reading this and have never seen JONAS, but you’re daugther is always chatting about it, it’s kid-friendly, innocent silliness, with stars who look more like they’re just trying to have some fun and aren’t taking themselves too seriously.

As entertaining as some fans might find the JONAS episodes, the best part of the DVD is actually a never-before-scene bonus feature, a segment called “You’ve Just Been JoBro’d — Surprising Jordin Sparks.” It’s actually pretty hilarious, as the brothers prank Jordin Sparks, the American Idol starlet who’d been touring with the boys last year. The brothers and Sparks sit for a radio interview with a journalist who has no idea what he’s talking about — or at least he pretends to have no idea. The journalist is a fake who’s totally in on the joke. He refers to Kevin as Paul (his real first name, of course), and he introduces Jordin Sparks as The Jonas Brothers’ label mate Jordan Pruitt. Then several callers phone through with insane comments and questions, with a couple of the Jonases among the callers. Sparks is a sport about it all, never losing her cool, but her reactions are priceless. And, finally, in case you just can’t get enough of the JoBros, the DVD comes with a trio of I Heart JONAS magnets, one each of Nick, Kevin and Joe. But why no Frankie magnet?
