Summit Entertainment has revealed a marketing poster for the Paul W.S. Anderson directed 3D movie, The Three Musketeers, starring Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Macfadyen and Christoph Waltz.
The film is another film retelling of the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas. The film will be in 3D and its not known how different this will be from previous versions of the story on film. Disney did a fun almost Pirates-esque version a bunch of years ago, while Peter Hyams film, The Musketeer, was as ambitious as it was disastrous, using the Crouching Tiger-style wire stunts for swordplay scenes.
Anderson co-wrote the script with Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Pride and Prejudice) and the aim is for the film was to have a contemporary feel whilst keeping within the realm of the tale’s historical setting. In the film, corsets and feathered hats don’t take center stage. Anderson’s version is said to be richer in “the eye-popping action, romance and adventure.”
Logan Lerman has been cast as D’Artagnan, a young swashbuckler who wants to join the infamous king’s bodyguards, known as The Musketeers. He befriends a trio of loyal musketeers that stumble upon a conspiracy to kill the king of France. Matthew Macfadyen will play Athos, Ray Stevenson will serve as Porthos and Luke Evans will portray Aramis. Inglorious Basterd‘s Christoph Waltz is going to play the villainous Cardinal Richelieu, while Orlando Bloom is Duke of Buckingham, Milla Jovovich is Milady de Winter, Mads Mikkelsen is Rochefort and Juno Temple is Queen Anne.
