A complaint has been lodged with the RCMP by the father of a boy who was allegedly assaulted by pop star Justin Bieber at a Richmond, B.C., laser tag centre on Friday, police say.
But a police spokeswoman declined to give any other details Monday about what is alleged to have happened.
"Until somebody is formally charged with an offence, we're not in a position to confirm the person's name," Cpl. Annie Linteau said. "And in the case where it involves a minor, we're simply not in a position to ever release the person's name."
Richmond RCMP confirmed on the weekend they are investigating an assault involving a 12-year-old boy.
Bieber, 16, went to Planet Lazer with two bodyguards and was playing in a group of about 12 others.
Staff at the centre said that as word got around the star was there, he began to be followed by a growing number of players and was being heavily targeted with shots from others.
In laser tag, players use guns that emit laser light to shoot at other players wearing equipment that makes a noise whenever they are hit.
After the game, one parent complained to Planet Lazer management that his child was hit or pushed.
The centre's manager on Monday would not confirm reports that he asked Bieber and his entourage to leave after the complaint.
Linteau said the boy suffered minimal injuries and did not require medical attention.
Bieber is scheduled to perform a concert in Vancouver on Tuesday night.
