Justin Bieber is a model pop star

Justin Bieber has been sized up for a new starring role - as a Madame Tussauds waxwork.

The singer dropped in to the studios of the attraction to be measured by staff creating a new figure which will be unveiled in London next month.

US star Justin, who created "Bieber fever" last week at the launch of his film Never Say Never, had to sit for dozens of precise measurements to allow sculptors to get him just right.

The figure of the 16-year-old will have taken four months to complete by the time it is launched, at a cost of £150,000.

Justin's replica will be given a simultaneous unveiling at Tussauds in Amsterdam, while a third model will go on show in New York soon after.

Liz Edwards of Tussauds said: "Justin Bieber is truly a worldwide sensation.

"We have been absolutely inundated with requests from young fans from around the world to see him at Madame Tussauds. We're sure his fans will be just as delighted as we are that Justin will be joining the A-list here in March."

Justin will be seen in the interactive music zone alongside stars such as Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse and Justin Timberlake.
