Miley Cyrus ‘hurt by father’s comments’

Miley Cyrus is reportedly "hurt and angry" after her father gave an outspoken interview claiming fame has ruined their family.

In a candid magazine interview, singer Billy Ray Cyrus admitted his relationship with the teenage star has become strained in recent months and said he wished Miley had never appeared in Hannah Montana. Miley shot to fame at a young age in the Disney television show and Billy confessed he regrets putting her in the public spotlight so soon. He also said he is concerned his daughter is surrounded by negative influences and fears she could go off the rails – and these comments have saddened Miley

"Miley is upset," a source told People. "She's very hurt and angry."

Billy is currently in the process of getting a divorce from Miley’s mother Tish and says he is doing his best to try to pull his loved ones closer together. After the interview was published he said his comments were “explosive and unintentionally so” before insisting he is doing everything he can to “mend” his family.

Those close to the Cyrus family have claimed 49-year-old Billy felt compelled to be so outspoken because of his fractured relationship with those he loves the most.

"Maybe he can't get the message of how much they mean to him across, and this is the way to do it," an insider told the publication.

Miley is yet to publicly respond to her father’s opinions and has been spending a lot of time with her mother recently. The singer-and-actress has also been spotted visiting a recording studio and it has been claimed she is throwing herself into work.

“Miley has seemed stressed, though she tries to hide it behind a constant smile," a source explained.
